Handsome Simba is finally ready to find his forever home. He is approx. 18 months old male Lab cross who was abandoned with another dog - an older female, in a property where he was kept in a crate. When he came to us he was lacking any training and self control.
Simba has come so far through his rehabilitation and training. From pulling like a steam train he is now a fully focused boy walking nicely on the lead. From barking at other unknown people out of fear due to poor early socialisation he can now sit next to his handler who has a conversation with a stranger. From an impulsive, strong boisterous teenager he can control his arousal, wait at every gate and door until released, walking through them calmly.
Simba is a healthy full of energy young lad, but had to have his tail amputated due to excessive wagging and injuring himself. His exercise and mental stimulation was very limited because he had to wear a buster collar for over a month 24/7. He became a regular patient at the vets and stole everyone's heart. It was very hard to keep up with his training during this time, but he proved nothing less than excellent learning skills, a true enjoyment when working with his favourite handlers, and ability to make people laugh of his often goofy behaviour. Simba also loves playing with toys and obviously food!
Simba struggles with greeting other dogs in a close distance, but he is not reactive on the lead and can pass them on walks with no problem. Due to this he will need to be the only dog in the home. The perfect home for Simba is adult only (16+) with a garden in a suburban area. He needs understanding, patient and consistent adopters who are keen to proof his training in various environments and situations to ensure consistent response, even with distractions. If you're looking for an active, bright and goofy companion, Simba is the perfect match.
