About Me

Breed: French Bulldog
Colour: merle
Age: 3 Years (approx)
Ref: Gus

Gus originally came in via an Inspector in March 2023 after he was found unattended in a flat in squalid conditions. He weighed only 7kg and the vet thought he may have been abandoned on his own for around 10 days. He also has a deformed jaw which he may have been born with. This does sometimes cause him to sick up his food but we have found feeding on a slightly raised level works most of the time. Gus went to a new home in May 2023 but unfortunately was returned to us on the 3rd of December last year due to some issues with his behaviour.

Gus became overly attached to the female owner in his previous home as she was the one who spent the most time with him  He was not as comfortable with the male in the house although Gus has been absolutely fine with the male staff and volunteers at the shelter.

Since returning to us Gus has been a happy, sweet boy who often spends time in the staffroom cuddling all the staff and volunteers. Gus enjoys his walks, particularly if there’s long grass to snuffle in and loves playing with his toys. He knows his name and how to sit and should be housetrained.

Unfortunately since his first stay with us Gus has become reactive with other dogs and becomes very frustrated when he sees them. He has been known to redirect onto his handler but only in extreme circumstances and we have not experienced this at the shelter. He will be looking for a new home where he is the only dog and no cats or small animals either.

Gus needs an experienced owner who is prepared to work with our behaviourist if needed to help settle him in a new home. He will need to live in an area where there is access to quiet walks with minimal off lead dogs, He cannot live with children and will need his own secure garden.
