Meet Sam! Unfortunately she has not had the best start in life. Having been found abandoned alongside other dogs at a young age, such an experience has left its impact.
However, we feel after taking things slow and giving her time to adjust, she is ready to find a home.
Given time and the right care Sam is a bubbly girl and full of energy. She loves nothing more than playing with another dog that can match her style, but don?t be fooled as she also enjoys a quiet mooch and exploring her surroundings when play time is over. So long as she has a trusty companion to learn from, we feel Sam will excel in no time.
Sadly her struggles have been with human contact and the kennel environment itself. We have worked on this at the centre and she now has a number of care assistance she feels she can trust and rely on when she needs some extra support or guidance. The team have excelled in their care of her and brought her round to what she is today - an anxious girl that is steadily improving day-by-day. The next step is to find her a quiet home away from the noise and busy atmosphere of the kennels where she can gradually adjust and become the doting companion we know she can be.
Sam does show many traits typical of the Malinois breed, and being a young dog, any applicant should be prepared to meet the needs of a young, active breed and support her learning. This also extends to other dogs during play, as Sam can be mouthy with a soft touch at times. Her lead walking has improved in her time here, but she will need time to gradually settle into a routine. It is likely her first few outings will be close to home and not too long as she adjusts to her new environment.
Sam is looking for applicants that can offer her plenty of time and space as she adjusts to a home life she is yet to experience. Applicants should be prepared to move at Sam?s pace during this period and resist the urge to push her beyond her comfort point too fast. An established dog in the home is something we are also looking for as Sam is likely to find a role model in a fellow furry friend, and from them learn how to interact and thrive in a home. A play here and there also never hurts.
Sam is ideally looking for a rural home that can offer her a secure garden space to explore.
The adoption fee for Sam is #200.
