Abandoned and left in an emaciated state, this larger than life girl has truly found her footing here at Block Fen. With time and care she has reached a healthy weight and now has only love to offer her handlers.

Assula is a happy, affectionate girl who adores the people she knows. She walks at a steady pace and is very content relaxing in our paddocks where she can potter about freely. Despite her size, she is gentle with everyone she meets and loves nothing more than fuss and companionship.

When Assula first arrived, we did have reservations about how she may interact with food due to her emaciated state, but she has proven reliable and non-reactive with us in a wide range of situations. Here at the centre, she has also mixed well with a number of dogs and enjoyed going off-site with no issues. Assula has had the opportunity to be placed into a home and had the company of another dog. However, when placed in a home she showed she could become protective of her owner and unsure of unfamiliar dogs when in busy public spaces. For this reason, we are now looking for a confident and experienced owner of large breeds who can offer her structure and reassurance when she needs it.

Assula will do best as the only dog in the home where she can relax and enjoy one-to-one attention. She would love a secure garden to explore and a home that is not too busy. Due to her size and history, we may consider homes with older children 16+.

Assula has come a long way since arriving at Block Fen and is now ready for the next step in her journey. To find a loving home where she can be cherished for the gentle companion she is.
