James was discovered by a kind member of the public, abandoned in a pet carrier with not even a blanket to keep him warm. He was extremely underweight, and his coat was in poor condition—clearly a cat who had been through a lot. Unsurprisingly, James was very scared when he first arrived at his foster home. For the first couple of weeks, he hid behind a bed, only venturing out when tempted by the promise of food. But with time, patience, and plenty of gentle care, he slowly began to trust again. Bit by bit, James started to come out of his shell—seeking out strokes, and even asking for his favourite thing: a tummy rub. While sudden noises or unfamiliar visitors still made him anxious, he was learning to feel safe. Now, a few months on, James is a different cat. He’s relaxed in his foster home, regularly grooming himself, and loves curling up for cuddles in the mornings. He’s even been known to wait by the front door to greet his fosterers when they return home—always ready for affection and company. James has recently been diagnosed with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While it might sound daunting, FIV-positive cats can live long, happy lives. It simply means James needs to be kept indoors and should be the only pet in the home to keep him healthy and safe. He can be nervous with new people and in new situations, but once he feels secure, he will reward you with endless affection and companionship. If you are interested in adopting from us, please fill in the form below. https://rspca-bedfordshiresouth.org.uk/adopt-a-pet/?pet_type=catsIf you have any holidays booked please consider this as we are unable to reserve our cats. Also Cats under 6 month will need to come back to a vet in our area for neuter and chip. If you choose to use your own vets we can’t cover the cost. Second vaccinations are also the responsibility of new owners. Please note we do not rehome to families who live near a busy road or a railway line.
